It's okay

The year 2022 is ending in a few days and an obvious thing to do would be to write a summary of the past 12 months. Which is exactly what I don't feel like doing, because, by all measures, the past year was mostly terrible (at least for me, personally). Instead, I thought about giving myself a break and move on into 2023. With a pat on the back and a thought: "It's okay. The year's almost over. You made it through".

So, this post is a bit of encouragement for myself and for whoever reads it. It's a collection of "it's okay"s that make it a little bit easier. It's banal and it's silly at times, but it's worth saying. So, here goes.

It's okay to feel stupid. There's always gonna be people smarter then you. But that doesn't mean that you just have to give up and do nothing. Instead, you learn from these people and you grow. Only compare yourself with you from a year ago, never with other people. Follow your own progress.

It's okay to feel tired. You're doing a lot. Remember, emotions and streess eat up a lot of your energy. The constant torrent of bad news and endless crises around us - it all takes a toll on your productivity and well-being.

It's okay to be anxious and unsure. The world around us is shifting faster then ever. Things come and go, new social media dramas pop up every day, recession is looming, and there's always something new to worry about. Take a deep breath. Focus on what you can control. Focus on what's important.

It's okay to be unproductive. Every day is different, and some days are more difficult to get through than others. Maybe, take it easier today and re-commit with a renewed energy tomorrow.

It's okay to feel angry at strangers on the Internet. Social media is very good at making us feel this way. Just remember that all these platforms are designed that way to maximize clicks and engagement. It's just not worth it.

It's okay to be sad. You can't always be cheerful and happy. Life's a rollercoaster and has it's ups and downs. Sadness is a valid feeling and there's nothing to be ashamed of.

It's okay to feel silly and weird. Weirdness is a superpower; and doing silly and playful things often bring up a lot of new ideas that could potentially change the word.

That's just a couple of things that came to mind. Decided to keep it intentionally short, although I could expand on it in the future. Maybe I will.

I hope this makes someone's day a little brighter.
