Resolutions
Time around the New Year is a great time to reflect on the past year and make some goal planning for the new one. People have different opinions on whether resolutions we make during this time will actually work out for us, but I think there's definitely no harm in at least trying to commit to something. There's no doubt - a lot (if not most) of our commitments do not stand the test of time. Life happens, priorities change. Which brings me to the fact that I've already made a mess on one of my commitments.
A couple days before the New Year's day I started a project where I aim to write a post every day for 100 days. It could be anything, a technical post or a journaling note. It went quite well for almost a week. And then, on the first work day of the New Year, I totally dropped the ball and forgot about it. Possibly due to the fact that work days mean a completely different routine change from the holidays. But, more likely, because I was just a bit lazy.
That's how it starts. You skip one day here, two days there, and before you know it - you've given up on the thing altogether. Guys at my local gym say that every January there's a huge influx of people. However, after a week or two - everything usually comes back to normal, as a lot of folks don't follow through on their initial effort. This makes me a little sad, because all those folks probably thought they would keep at it. But, at the same time, there's always some people that push through and end up better than they were before. And I really want to see myself in that group.
So, I guess I just have to suck it up and double my posts today.
This post is part of the #100days project, where I try to write a post a day. Today is #day8. Was supposed to write this yesterday, so count this post as #day7
